15 Reasons To Love Item Upgrades

Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a frequent and essential way to boost the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can be a fantastic source of damage, more AD or even more affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is often superior to the more modernized Common or Magic gear due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they are attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Alternately, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components within them by using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to take on. Upgrading a piece of armor to its highest upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it must be more heavy.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others make it lighter and stronger. The type of armor upgrade that an item will receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade as illustrated in the table below.

A few upgrades are magical or a combination of technology and magic, which is shown by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges for use. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either updated daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest way to upgrade armor is with Iron Ore, which can be obtained through exploring the surroundings and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, but can be found at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can give a significant improvements in stats and are definitely worth the cost.

The player should be aware, however, that upgrading a piece up to the max upgrade level will boost its defense. However, it can also reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The added defense generally isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of a weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Some weapons have special upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, reduces the risk of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.

Most weapon upgrades require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. These are obtained through either doing side quests, or killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses, or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost that is based on a specific number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars you will need to complete the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials The cost of upgrading will be less.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed. Before, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay a set number of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased level of rarity. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would reset.

This is still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear with low levels of upgrade but with high base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a better chance of granting you the most prestigious tier of advantages and benefits.

To increase their level quicker, players usually prioritise upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates utilize to increase their power. Shepard for instance, should upgrade the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used in conjunction with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are utilized in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method of making them, in which you combine gemstones with specific reagents on a table.  More hints  of the gemstone has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The quality of a diamond can be improved by the Jeweler, with stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the level the jewel is at when it's slotted into jewelry, weapons, or gear.

All tiers of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a sufficient level to be able to get these. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped with a jewel of the same kind without destroying it. However it is only possible to replace the jewels in an equipment piece once.

It is normal to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. In addition to improving performance, the diamonds create an outer layer that is more durable than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots doesn't damage them as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the appearance of your weapons and shields. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be freely swapped, but they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis and traits, cannot be swapped out, and can only be recovered using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets can be used to give your character various small, but useful benefits. They are available in the start-up area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available from vendors and by doing road interaction. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player can unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but valuable boost in movement speed and the ability to evade. Then, they can purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in the same manner to the way a player can acquire armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be put into any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This lets the hero perform better when they are not active and also helps make up for a lack of a strong team or the absence of any slots from the talent tree that normally are filled with the hero's ideal stats.

As a rule trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items that you will not replace soon. Next, any items that have desirable statistics aren't as significant as the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade just one crucial stat than two subpar ones.

Jungle players usually upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one prior to the start of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand will pick a green or a pink ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's map control abilities.

Apart from the items mentioned above, players can discover a variety of other trinkets throughout the game in the form of awards and trophies. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, finishing the main quest of a chapter or defeating an opponent. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
